The District of Columbia Judicial Nomination Commission has recommended to the president three candidates for a judicial vacancy on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia created by the retirement of Judge Jonathan H. Pittman. The president has 60 days to select a nominee to fill this vacancy.

The D.C. Bar has named Nkechi Taifa, founder, principal, and CEO of The Taifa Group, LLC, as the recipient of its 2025 William J. Brennan Jr. Award for her significant contributions to improving access to justice. Taifa will be honored at the Bar’s annual Celebration of Leadership on June 26.

The D.C. Bar is honoring Janice L. Hoffman, former associate general counsel at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), with its 2025 Beatrice Rosenberg Award for Excellence in Government Service. Hoffman will receive the award at the Bar’s Celebration of Leadership on June 26.
