To Mark Women’s History Month, Montani Speaks on Progress and Responsibility

March 11, 2026

D.C. Bar President Sadina MontaniIn celebration of Women’s History Month, D.C. Bar President Sadina Montani reflects on key milestones in the history of women in the law and the trailblazers who have influenced her career as a lawyer. In a video message, Montani also shares her perspective on the responsibility of bar leaders to ensure that the progress women have achieved in the legal profession is not only safeguarded but also meaningfully advanced.

“Bar leaders have a unique opportunity given the wide range of lawyers and law students with whom we regularly interact to demystify and pull back the curtain on the profession,” Montani says.

“I feel a personal responsibility to open doors for other women, of course, but even more broadly, I think there’s a responsibility to do so for all underrepresented groups,” Montani adds. “A legal profession that reflects the diversity of the communities it serves is better equipped to deliver justice, to understand the needs of clients from all backgrounds, and to maintain the legitimacy of our institutions.”
