Why Serve on a D.C. Bar Community Steering Committee?
- Lead a community into the future.
- Collaborate with colleagues.
- Choose and develop programming in your practice area.
Steering committee members are responsible for coordinating programs, projects, publications, and community outreach activities. Steering committees also may develop public statements and submit comments on legislation, court rules, and regulatory reform related to the community's practice area.
Community members may submit Candidate Interest Statements year-round. Candidate Interest Statements submitted between now and February 2022 will be reviewed by the D.C. Bar Screening Committee for mid-term vacancies and/or inclusion on ballots for the steering committee elections to be held in the Spring of 2022. Please attach a current résumé.
The Screening Committee will choose steering candidates by early March 2022. Those elected will serve three-year terms, beginning July 1, 2022.
Please note: A Candidate Interest Statement does not automatically confer a place on the ballot. Those interested in pursuing a seat must be a current Community's member and D.C. Bar member.
There will be a virtual information session for prospective candidates on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 12pm EST. To RSVP, email Brittany Sims Nwankwoala, Staff Attorney, Member & Policy at [email protected] or call (202) 626-3463.
