On November 15 the Superior Court of the District of Columbia issued Administrative Order 23-26 announcing four new members to the Criminal Justice Act (CJA)/Counsel for Child Abuse and Neglect (CCAN) Investigator Panel.

Announced in Administrative Order 23-25, the presiding judge of D.C. Superior Court’s Probate Division seeks applications for the Probate Fiduciary Panel from qualified attorneys who are not currently serving on the panel. The application period runs December 1, 2023, through January 31, 2024.

The D.C. Bar Judicial Evaluation Committee invites Bar members who have appeared before certain selected judges on the D.C. Court of Appeals and D.C. Superior Court to provide feedback to help improve judges’ performance and further the courts’ commitment to the administration of justice. This year’s evaluation period runs from November 14 to January 12.

The District of Columbia Bar’s Rules of Professional Conduct Review Committee is seeking comments about proposed amendments to D.C. Rule of Professional Conduct 1.8 that would expand the District’s existing exceptions to the general rule that prohibits a lawyer from advancing or guaranteeing financial assistance while representing a client in connection with contemplated or pending litigation or administrative proceedings.
