Superior Court to Hold Town Hall Meetings on Civil Division Operations

The D.C. Superior Court will hold three virtual town hall events in the coming week relating to its draft plan reimagining the Civil Division’s courtroom operations in a post-pandemic environment.

The court welcomes the public’s thoughts and ideas on the draft plan that covers, among other things, remote versus in-person trials or hearings, continuation or expansion of remote sites, and access to counsel. The court’s goal is to “provide as much flexibility and predictability as possible for parties and lawyers in scheduling and conducting trials and hearings.”

The schedule is as follows:

March 14 - Landlord and Tenant Virtual Public Forum  
March 15 - Civil Actions Virtual Public Forum
March 16 - Small Claims Virtual Public Forum

All three town halls will begin at 4 p.m.

Superior Court Chief Judge Anita Josey-Herring and Civil Division leadership will be in attendance at each of these events. Parties are invited to submit questions in advance by emailing [email protected].

D.C. Courts Release 2024 Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll

Chief Judge Anna Blackburne-Rigsby of the D.C. Court of Appeals and Chief Judge Milton C. Lee, Jr., of the D.C. Superior Court have released the 14th annual Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll, recognizing the contributions of those D.C. Bar members and other lawyers authorized to perform pro bono legal work in the District of Columbia who completed 50 hours or more of pro bono service during the prior calendar year.
