Superior Court Issues Order Regarding Access to Juvenile Justice Data

November 19, 2020

By Jeremy Conrad

On November 17, the Superior Court of the District of Columbia issued Administrative Order 20-14 relating to access to juvenile justice data. The order requires the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council’s (CJCC) Juvenile Justice Committee to provide the executive officer of the D.C. Courts with a list of authorized employees permitted to inspect juvenile case records. It further permits authorized employees to use the data to conduct research and analysis on juvenile justice trends and to share the data with agencies participating in the Juvenile Justice Data Committee.

The order limits the distribution or disclosure of the data to other persons or organizations without further order of the chief judge of the Superior Court, among other recordkeeping and limiting provisions.
