Comment on Reappointment of Judges Washington and Raffinan

The D.C. Commission on Judicial Disabilities and Tenure invites comments on the qualifications and fitness of D.C. Court of Appeals Judge Eric T. Washington, who is applying for reappointment to a four-year term as senior judge, and D.C. Superior Court Judge Maribeth Raffinan, who is seeking reappointment to another 15-year term as associate judge.

Washington’s term expires on March 19, 2025, and Raffinan’s term expires on September 30, 2025.

Members of the bench, bar, and general public may complete an online survey or submit comments by mail to D.C. Commission on Judicial Disabilities and Tenure, 515 Fifth Street NW, Room 246, Washington, DC 20001, or by email to [email protected]. Alternatively, comments may be submitted orally or in writing to Interim Executive Director and Special Counsel Amy Conway-Hatcher at [email protected], or to any individual member of the commission.

The deadline to comment on Washington’s application is March 6. Comments on Raffinan’s application are due April 10.

The identity of any person submitting comments will be kept confidential, unless the commenter authorizes the disclosure of his or her name.
