Meredith Jannsen Joins D.C. Bar as New Director of Marketing & Communications

July 07, 2022

By Jeremy Conrad

Meredith JannsenThe D.C. Bar has appointed Meredith Jannsen as its new director of Marketing and Communications tasked with overseeing organizational efforts to provide member-centered marketing and communications, drive engagement, and elevate the profile of the Bar and its services.

Jannsen recently served as vice president of marketing and communications for the American Pharmacists Association, where she was responsible for creating the organization’s integrated marketing and communications strategy and modernizing the brand platform for the 170-year-old organization.

Previous positions include director of marketing for the Endocrine Society and multiple roles at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, where her responsibilities spanned all aspects of marketing — leading digital and print marketing strategies that elevated communications, strengthening member engagement and partnerships, and generating revenue.

“I’m looking forward to driving member engagement by providing clear messaging about the Bar, its activities, and the value it brings to membership both in and outside of the District,” Jannsen says. “Branding, integrated communications, and member experience are pieces of the larger puzzle I’m looking to solve for the organization. I’ll do this through the development of our brand platform, ensuring that our communications are consistent, informative, and useful and that our message’s reach stretches across platforms.”

Jannsen will also be working to support communication internally, drawing upon her experience in organizational team building, cross-collaboration, and inclusivity. “Cross-collaboration is something particularly important to marketing and comms leadership positions,” she says. “The ability to connect with the passions and priorities of those involved with the organization, both internally and externally, are necessary for success. Unless we know what member and staff priorities are, we can’t help them accomplish their goals.”
