Judicial Nomination Commission Announces Chief Judge Vacancy

On April 1 the D.C. Judicial Nomination Commission announced that the position of chief judge of D.C. Superior Court will be vacant when the term of Chief Judge Anita Josey-Herring expires on September 30, 2024. Josey-Herring is not seeking reappointment.

Active judges of the Superior Court are eligible to apply for designation to a term of up to four years as chief judge by submitting a statement of interest and a complete set of application materials to the commission. Any individual, organization, or bar association may submit a written nomination of an eligible active judge with the consent of the judge.

All statements of interest, nominations, and application materials (available at jnc.dc.gov) must be received by the commission by 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13.
