D.C. Court of Appeals Seeks Applicants for Committee on Admissions Vacancy

November 26, 2019

The District of Columbia Court of Appeals is seeking applications for a vacancy on the Committee on Admissions. The committee is charged with determining D.C. Bar applicants’ good moral character and general fitness to practice law. Committee members contribute to character and fitness decisions, participate in formal hearings, and grade bar examinations. Committee members are appointed to a three-year term, which can be renewed.

An applicant for the vacancy must be an actively practicing member of the D.C. Bar and must have been admitted to the Bar for at least five years. In addition, an applicant should have strong academic and professional experience, and possess effective writing and verbal skills. A small stipend is available.

Bar members who wish to be considered should send a résumé and cover letter to Shela Shanks, Director, Committee on Admissions, District of Columbia Court of Appeals, 430 E Street NW, Room 123, Washington DC 20001, by Friday, January 31, 2020.
