Summary: In re Ana T. Jacobs. Bar No. 446701. June 28, 2021. Disciplinary Counsel issued Jacobs an informal admonition. Jacobs was retained to represent a client by filing a U visa petition on her behalf to gain lawful permanent resident status. After obtaining approval of her client's U visa petition, Jacobs failed to prepare a motion to reopen the client's immigration case with the Executive Office for Immigration Review prior to applying for the client's adjustment of status with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and she failed to advise the client of the consequences of not doing so, resulting in prejudice to the client's underlying matter.
