How Employers Can Remedy Lawyer Burnout

Chad SarchioWith COVID-19, bitter social and political reckonings, and widespread economic turbulence, more lawyers have experienced serious personal and professional challenges and been laid lower than at any point in recent memory. We have a massive, unprecedented problem of burnout in our midst.

How can legal employers create a work environment, work ethos, and workforce inoculated against not just the coronavirus, but also against the disease of burnout?

In a guest column for Law360 posted on January 19, I suggested that “practical microsolutions” could help quell burnout, and I offered a few examples law firms and legal employers might consider to protect lawyers’ time and, in turn, support happy, healthy, and effective lawyers.
