Special Membership Meeting (VIRTUAL)

Wednesday, April 27, 2022 - UPDATE
4:00 - 5:30 p.m. Eastern

Pursuant to Rule VI, Section 2 of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals Rules Governing the District of Columbia Bar, the D.C. Bar will hold a special membership meeting at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

Per DCCA Rule II, Section 4, only active members of the D.C. Bar who attend the meeting will be eligible to vote, and no member shall be entitled to be represented and vote by proxy.

Members will be asked to consider and vote upon three previously approved member resolutions concerning the Bar’s authority to:

  1. lobby Congress regarding funding for D.C. Courts,

  2. make public statements in support of funding for proposals recommended by the D.C. Access to Justice Commission intended to improve the delivery of civil legal services in the District, and

  3. make public statements that advocate for the timely confirmation of judges to the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

A fourth resolution that would permit the Board to make non-partisan public statements and recommendations about the independence of the judiciary and the role of the profession in supporting and advancing the rule of law will also be presented for consideration and a vote.
