Static Site Settings

The first step in generating static content is configuring static site paths and URLs.  From the Site Administration Dashboard, expand the Static Content Generation left panel and click Static Site Settings. This dialog requests different information for authoring and target servers and replication environments.

Before you specify directories in CommonSpot, you must first create a static content directory on the local server.

Note: The path defined for static content must point to an empty directory. If you enter nothing in the Local Static Site Directory field (leave the field blank), or if you enter a directory containing content, CommonSpot generates a warning.

From a Non-Replicated Site on the Authoring Server

On authoring servers that also serve as production servers, this dialog displays as follows:

From a Replicated Site on the Authoring Server

On authoring servers that replicate to one or more read-only production servers, this dialog prompts for the following fields:

Complete the fields appropriate for your configuration:

Note: You must enter a predefined empty directory. If you enter nothing (leave the field blank) or if you enter a directory that contains content, CommonSpot generates a warning.

Entries to this dialog display under Site Information in the center panel of the Site Administration Dashboard, as shown below for an authoring server without any test directories defined:

From a Replication Target

If you are replicating to a read-only production server that will generate static content, access this dialog on the replication target.

In this case, the only editable field is Local Static Site Directory. Enter the full path name of the directory (local or a shared network folder) that will serve static content from this target.

The Public Dynamic URL, Public Static URL, and the Rendered Browser Type fields display settings defined on the authoring server.
