Output Mask

The Output Mask dialog allows the user to specify how the data for a given field should be displayed when rendered for the page. This dialog is invoked from the Insert Field dialog from within the Rich Text Editor.

An example Output Mask dialog for a Date field is shown below.

In Insert Field dialog select any Date Field and click Next

The "Available Mask" selection box at the top of the dialog allows the user to pick any of the registered Field Masks for the specified field type. Upon selection, the dialog is refreshed and displays options for how to render the data.

For example, in the image dialog below the 'No Mask' option is selected.

Upon selecting the 'CommonSpot Users' option from the Available Masks drop-down, the dialog is changed to show new options.

CommonSpot ships with several out-the-box output masks, and developers can build and register their own. For more information regarding Field Masks, please refer to the "Field Masks & Custom Field Types" section of the Site Administration page.

Upon selecting an option and pressing the 'Finish' button the field will be inserted into the rich text editor. Clicking the 'Prev' button will backup to the previous Insert Field dialog. Pressing the Cancel button will cancel the insertion of the field all together.
