cle tech instituteTony Chapman is a Partner at Withum and the leader of the Service Organization Controls (SOC) Practice.  He has more than 30 years of experience and is one of their Firm’s leading internal control assessment specialists.  Tony is among the 38 people in the United States designated as a SOC 1® and SOC 2® specialist by the Oversight Task Force of the AICPA Peer Review Board.  Tony is also among the first to receive the SOC for Cybersecurity digital badge.  He is also a Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) and CPA.  Tony concentrates his practice in the areas of Service Audits and Internal Control Consulting.  He has extensive experience within a variety of industries including finance and banking, technology, unified communications, third party administration, healthcare, and government programs on international, national, and regional levels, and he has developed extensive expertise in assessing internal accounting control effectiveness.


cle tech instituteDaniel Cohen-Dumani is a Partner at Withum and the Market Leader for the Withum Digital Practice.  Daniel has more than 20 years of experience in the field of computer science and software development.  Prior to leading the Withum Digital practice, Daniel founded Bethesda-based Portal Solutions, an information technology consulting firm, in 2002.  His mission for Portal Solutions from inception was to be the leading provider of knowledge optimization solutions.  With Daniel as CEO, the company thrived, becoming one of the fastest-growing firms in the Washington, D.C. area, as ranked by Inc. magazine.

Daniel was nominated in 2009 and 2010 as one of Washington D.C.'s Smart 100 CEOs.  Daniel is a frequent speaker at SharePoint conferences and user groups and is a recognized Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint Subject Matter Expert.


cle tech instituteChris DeMayo is a Partner at Withum and serves as the firm’s Practice leader for the Technology and Emerging Growth Services Group.  With over 15 years of experience, he has dedicated his time to servicing this industry and tech community and has had the privilege of working and building relationships with some of the most well-known and successful technology and emerging growth companies in the space.  In addition to servicing clients, his responsibilities include representing the firm in the marketplace, developing marketplace strategies, leading the growth and success of the firm’s technology and emerging growth practice.  Chris has authored numerous articles on a variety of topics and is frequently scheduled on speaking engagements at industry events.

Beyond accounting, he has developed a deeply focused skill set within the sector as a strategic advisor and consultant.  With an emphasis on M&A and auditing, he often consults with clients on accounting for complex capital structure, interpretation of revenue recognition standards, capitalized software, acquisition accounting, exit planning, and software selection/implementation, among others.  Chris is a CPA, and has an MBA.

Drynan has extensive experience across the E-Discovery lifecycle including, interpreting Requests for Information and Complaints to identify sources of relevant information, developing strategies for targeting and gathering data, performing custodial interviews, and managing the collection of information. Tracy’s experience also includes developing strategies for analyzing relevant data, conducting in depth investigations into the data prior to production, and producing data after vetting and processing the data for protected privilege and PII. Additionally, she has developed tools that were critical to and used throughout the matter lifecycle.




cle tech instituteMatthew Ferrante is a Partner at Withum and the leader for the Withum Cyber and Information Security practice and is a former Top Electronic Crimes Special Agent.  He provides security and security assurance for SMB to global enterprise-class businesses and governments, including critical infrastructure.  He is recognized as a top-tier industry expert for providing appropriate due diligence on some of the largest and most highly publicized data breaches to date, including but not limited to data breaches involving Target, Neiman Marcus and Sony PlayStation Networks.

Matthew was educated at the US Secret Service Academy, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Electronic Crimes Special Agent Program, Skidmore College, Mercy College for Criminal Justice, and Westchester for Applied Sciences.  Among several other recognitions, Matthew was given the Top Electronic Crimes Special Agent award by the United States Secret Service, recognized by the Department of Justice for his invaluable expertise, and the credit/debit card industry.


CLE Institute 2019 TechYodi S. Hailermariam focuses her practice on U.S. and cross-border information governance, data privacy, cybersecurity, electronic discovery, legal analytics, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things. Yodi has experience in a wide range of industries, including technology, health care, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, intellectual property, insurance and financial services. Yodi has extensive experience advising on cross-border data issues, particularly with respect to Asia and the European Union.

A frequent author, speaker and panelist on “all things data,” Yodi advises companies regarding electronic discovery in complex civil litigations, white collar defense, and corporate investigations; information governance and records management policies and programs; and data privacy, security and regulatory compliance. Yodi is also experienced in leveraging data analytics to achieve better, more efficient and more cost-effective results for clients. Yodi advises the firm and its clients on the development and use of analytics models that enable insight, data storytelling, and economic value generation.

At her previous firm, Yodi took an active role in developing the first digital evidence analysis platform in China to be operated and staffed by PRC-licensed lawyers.  In this role, Yodi also helped to design PRC-specific procedures for the strategic use and handling of sensitive digital information in civil litigation, anti-corruption investigations, and routine compliance audits in China. Prior to moving to Washington, D.C., Yodi worked at one of the “Big Four” Japanese law firms in Tokyo, Japan.

Yodi is an active contributor to the DBR on Data blog, where she regularly publishes material on a wide range of U.S. and global data privacy and information governance issues. Yodi speaks Amharic and Japanese.


CLE Institute 2019 TechDan Schumack of the Schumack Law Firm PLLC defends lawyers against bar complaints in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia; handles fee dispute arbitration and litigation; provides private ethics advice; and handles law firm partnership agreements (and unwinds) and continuity/succession planning.  In addition to private engagements, Mr. Schumack has been appointed in disciplinary system matters concerning deceased, incapacitated, and indigent lawyers.  He has also been appointed as Special Bar Counsel in the District in matters involving complaints against Hearing Committee Members. Mr. Schumack served as Vice Chair (2007-2009) and Member (2004-2009) of the DC Bar’s Rules of Professional Conduct Rules Review Committee.  The Committee’s work included major changes to the DC Bar’s IOLTA program (report issued 2009, Court adopted 2010) and a comprehensive overhaul of the Rules (report issued 2005, Court adopted 2007).  He served as a Hearing Committee Chair (1998-2000) and Hearing Committee Member (1994-2000) in the DC Bar’s disciplinary system.  (Hearing Committees are the trial-level adjudicator of bar complaints.).

Mr. Schumack is currently a member of the DC Bar’s Communities Oversight Committee.  He has also previously served as: Secretary to the DC Bar’s Board of Governors; a member of the DC Bar’s CLE Committee; a member of the DC Bar’s Practice Management Advisory Service Committee; and a member of the National Kidney Foundation’s Board of Directors.  Mr. Schumack is a member of APRL (the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers) and AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Schumack has presented more than a dozen different ethics-focused continuing legal education courses for the DC Bar’s CLE Program since 2006 – with some of those courses offered on a recurring basis.  He is a 1987 graduate of American University’s Washington College of Law.


CLE Institute 2019 Tech Anand Raj Shah is a Privacy and Data Security Associate at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, where he assists clients across industries in managing risks and incidents associated with their information practices, product offerings, and transactions. He navigates the full range of cybersecurity, privacy, and information governance issues including data breach response and preparedness. He advises clients on complying with federal, state, and international data protection laws and regulations. In addition, Anand counsels on industry-specific standards and disclosures required by publicly traded companies. Prior to private practice, he served as a Deputy Attorney General at the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, prosecuting cybercrimes, and was on the legal team at Mandiant Corporation. Anand received his B.A. from The George Washington University and J.D. from the Emory University School of Law. While in law school, he assisted the Group of Experts for the Tallinn Manual on the International Law Applicable to Cyber Operations.


cle tech instituteDale Tuttle is a Partner at Withum and the Practice Leader for the Withum Digital Practice.  Dale has more than 20 years of experience building and operating information technology services firms.  At Withum, he helps operate the Firm’s cloud transformation business and works closely with other partners to grow their cloud-focused IT consulting business.  Areas of specialty for this business unit include Office 365, data analytics, business process automation, and UI/UX consulting.
