Turkish law students visit

On August 24, the D.C. Bar hosted a visit by 17 Turkish law students sponsored by the Turkey Foundation for International Legal Cooperation. The delegation was primarily interested in learning about the structure and operations of the D.C. Bar, as well as about legal ethics and the attorney discipline system.

Bar President Patrick McGlone greeted the delegation at D.C. Bar's headquarters. Three members of the Bar staff presented information to the delegation: Karen Savransky, senior managing attorney; Saul Singer, senior legal ethics counsel; and Michael Rybak, senior staff attorney.

After a brief welcome and introductions by McGlone and the leader of the Turkish delegation, Rybak presented information about proposed revisions to Rule 46 regarding admission of foreign attorneys to the D.C. Bar, followed by an overview of D.C. Bar operations and programs by Savransky. Later Singer spoke about legal ethics and the attorney discipline system.
