Partners Perspective: Gerard Lavery Lederer

In December's Washington Lawyer, we asked law firm partners, when it comes to tech tools, what can't you live without?

Here we add Gerard Lavery Lederer of Best Best & Krieger LLP, who discusses how they remain connected to their offices located around the United States.

Gerard LedererHarvesting the efficiencies of technology is a goal we must all embrace. In our firm, we’ve got nine offices around the country and yet we are all tied in as one through our technology. We here in the Washington, D.C. office can serve as counsel to localities around the country because of our ability to eliminate distance through the use of technologies that permit collaborative work efforts.

But some of the firm’s more senior folk worry that some of the newer attorneys don’t understand that the best technology for client outreach is called lunch. The importance of establishing personal relationships with clients and perspective clients—meeting face-to-face—is never going to go away.
