Bar Extends Deadline for Clients’ Security Fund Vacancy Application

April 3, 2018

The D.C. Bar Board of Governors is seeking a candidate for a vacancy on the Clients’ Security Fund. One qualified Bar member will be recommended by the trustees of the Fund and the Board of Governors to the D.C. Court of Appeals for final appointment.

The Clients’ Security Fund is charged with maintaining the integrity and protecting the good name of the legal profession by reimbursing losses caused by the dishonest conduct of members of the D.C. Bar when acting either as attorneys or as fiduciaries. Reimbursements are made to the extent authorized by the Fund’s rules and as deemed proper and reasonable by its trustees.

The Fund represents a fundamental commitment by lawyers in the District of Columbia to protect the integrity of the profession by reimbursing losses suffered by people who have had a D.C. Bar member dishonestly retain money or something of value from them while acting as an attorney or fiduciary customary to the practice of law.

To apply for this opening, please submit a résumé and cover letter by email to [email protected] by Friday, April 13. Leadership experience with D.C. Bar committees, voluntary bar associations, or the Bar’s communities is highly desirable.
