Court of Appeals Orders Mandatory Mediation for Certain Cases

Starting January 23, 2017, the court will implement a mandatory early intervention appellate mediation program for certain appeals where all parties are represented by counsel.

Appeals eligible for mediation are:

  • Final orders of the Superior Court entered in civil division and probate division;
  • Final orders involving divorce, child custody, visitation, and child support entered in the family division;
  • Final orders entered by the Office of Administrative Hearings that are appealable to the D.C. Court of Appeals;
  • And final orders issued by administrative agencies, boards, and commissions of the District of Columbia.
