Luminary Award

Washington Lawyer, the D.C. Bar’s flagship magazine, has won a 2019 Luminary Award from the National Association of Bar Executives’ Communications Section for excellence in bar association regular publication.

The award was presented on September 27 at the Communication Section’s annual workshop in Cleveland, Ohio. The annual awards also recognized excellence in PR/Marketing/Social Media Campaign, Graphic Design, and Special Projects.

“We are extremely proud of Washington Lawyer and the talented team that ensures it is consistently valuable and interesting to our members,” says D.C. Bar Chief Executive Officer Robert J. Spagnoletti.

Previously published as District Lawyer, the Bar’s magazine first went to print in 1976. It rebranded as Washington Lawyer in 1986, delivering timely articles and substantive legal content to the Bar’s membership while closely following the transformation of the legal profession. Over the years the magazine has undergone a few redesigns to ensure it stays relevant to its readership.

“The magazine continues to undergo changes in content, appearance, and feel to ensure we remain relevant with our readers. Our team works diligently to produce a member-centric publication our readers can use in their practice. This award is a result of these efforts,” says Washington Lawyer Editor in Chief Andrea Williams, who accepted the award on behalf of the Bar.
