Bar Seeks Candidates for Various Committee and Board Vacancies

The D.C. Bar Board of Governors is seeking candidates for appointment in the fall to the following standing committees: Clients’ Security Fund, Communities, Continuing Legal Education, Election Board, Judicial Evaluation, Lawyer Assistance, Leadership Development, Nominations, Pro Bono, and Regulations/Rules/Board Procedures.

The deadline to apply for Clients' Security Fund, Elections Board, and Judicial Evaluation, Lawyer Assistance, and Regulations/Rules/Board Procedures was August 2. The deadline for Communities, Continuing Legal Education, Leadership Development, Nominations, and Pro Bono has been extended to August 26. Descriptions of D.C. Additionally, the Bar is seeking candidates to fill vacancies on the D.C. Commission on Judicial Disabilities and Tenure (CJDT), D.C. Judicial Nomination Commission (JNC), and the Neighborhood Legal Services Program (NLSP) board of directors. The deadline to apply for these vacancies is September 16.

CJDT/JNC: All terms are for six years. Applicants for these commissions must be active members of the D.C. Bar and bona fide residents of the District of Columbia.

NLSP: Candidates must be licensed attorneys who are supportive of the Legal Services Corporation Act and have an interest in, and knowledge of, the delivery of quality legal services to the poor.

To apply for any of these openings, please submit a résumé and cover letter stating the committee(s), commission(s), and/or board on which you would like to serve, as well as a description of relevant work or volunteer experience. Leadership experience with D.C. Bar committees, voluntary bar associations, or the Bar’s Communities (formerly Sections) is highly desirable.
