2019 D.C. Bar Elections Now Open for Nominations

January 10, 2019

The D.C. Bar is accepting nominations from members wishing to be candidates in the 2019 D.C. Bar elections. The deadline for receipt of nominations is February 1.

The D.C. Bar Nominations Committee is charged with nominating individuals for the positions of D.C. Bar president-elect, secretary, and treasurer, as well as for five vacancies in the Bar's Board of Governors. The committee also nominates candidates for three vacancies in the American Bar Association (ABA) House of Delegates, including one for a member who either will be under the age of 36 at the beginning of his or her term or has been admitted to practice in his or her first bar within the past five years at the start of the term. The term begins at the adjournment of the ABA's Annual Meeting in August 2019. All candidates must be active members of the D.C. Bar, and all candidates for ABA House of Delegates positions must also be ABA members.

Individuals interested in being considered for any of these positions should submit their résumé and cover letter stating the position for which they would like to be considered and a description of relevant work or volunteer experience. Leadership experience with D.C. Bar committees, voluntary bar associations, or the Bar’s Communities is highly desirable.

Nominations materials may be e-mailed to [email protected] or mailed to the D.C. Bar Nominations Committee, Executive Office, 901 4th Street NW, Washington, DC 20001.
