About the Law Practice Management Section
The Law Practice Management Section consists of lawyers (and other professionals) in private, government, corporate, nonprofit, and academic legal practices. The section provides professional growth opportunities and resources to members and explores topics related to managing and growing their legal organizations and/or careers in the legal industry. The section is led by a steering committee of
elected members which meets monthly to discuss recent programs, developments, and future events.
The section sponsors a variety of programs designed to help lawyers and other legal industry professionals advance in their chosen practice, with a focus on networking and business development, leadership and professional development, practice management (including technology, finance, and personnel issues), and career transitions.
Section members may attend programs at discounted prices and also have the opportunity to assist in planning and presenting courses. In addition to educational programs, we host an annual rooftop networking reception and have offered a "Legends of the Law" feature program at which Supreme Court justices and other luminaries have spoken.
The section also operates through a number of committees, including: Business of Law, Solo and Small Firm Practice, Business Development, Membership, Professional Development, and Networking. Section leaders are in the process of reinvigorating and establishing committees to better serve section members, and there are a number of opportunities to get involved.
We think there are tangible benefits to Law Practice Management (LPM) Section membership. If you have any questions about the section, what it does, or how you can become more active, please email or call any member of the section steering committee. The section also welcomes feedback about ways to better serve members and invites existing members to email or call any member of the section steering committee to provide feedback or get involved. You can find their contact information here.
