D.C. Bar members

Join the D.C. Bar and become a member of our diverse community that includes about 100,000 members in all 50 states and more than 80 countries.

All applicants who wish to become a member of the D.C. Bar by Motion may do so by submitting an online application.  

As an active member, you’ll get exclusive member benefits, including a nationwide subscription to legal research service Fastcase. Learn more about the different classes of membership at the D.C. Bar.   

Applicants for Special Legal Consultant

Applicants who wish to become a Special Legal Consultant will still need to submit a paper application to the Committee on Admissions. 


Admission to the D.C. Bar is handled by the Committee on Admissions at the D.C. Court of Appeals. If you have any questions during the application process, contact the Committee on Admission as 202-879-2710 or coa@dcappeals.gov.
