Certificates and Forms

Certificate of Good Standing

Effective January 8, the D.C. Bar began issuing Certificates of Good Standing on behalf of the Court of Appeals. The certificate reflects the attorney's name (as registered with the D.C. Bar), date of admission, membership status, the date of its preparation, and the signatures of both the Clerk of the Court of Appeals and D.C. Bar Membership staff.

In the spring of 2018, the fulfillment of certificates will also be transitioned online. Members will be able to receive their certificates as PDFs. During the transition to an automated process, we will continue to issue and mail paper certificates with expedited, next-day, and same-day processing speeds available beginning February 1. Please see the fee and processing schedule listed below.

Bar members can easily request a certificate by making a purchase through the D.C. Bar Marketplace. Walk-in requests will be accepted for Same-Day service only at the D.C. Bar Headquarters at 901 4th Street NW, 3rd Floor. Requests can be placed into a secure lockbox at 3rd floor reception before 11 a.m. on weekdays with with pickup beginning at 2 p.m. Firms may submit a maximum of 10 certificate requests per day. Note: The D.C. Bar’s office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mailed requests for Certificates of Good Standing will no longer be accepted. However, as a courtesy to our members we have a 30-day grace period for mailed requests. Please note mailed requests will not be accepted after February 8, 2018. Any mailed applications postmarked after February 8 will be returned to sender.
