Build Your EQ 2017: Emotional Intelligence for Lawyers Seminar

Date & Time: Friday, January 27, 2017 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

CLE Credit: No

Event Description
What is Emotional Intelligence, and why is it so important for lawyers? Emotional Intelligence is the capacity to act intelligently in using emotions, and comprises a number of skills, including emotional self-awareness, the ability to understand the emotions of others, and the ability to regulate your own emotions. Many lawyers think “emotion” is the enemy, and that “emotion” and “logic” are mutually exclusive opposites. Nearly 30 years of scientific research shows that these ideas are simply wrong. In fact, the most successful lawyers naturally employ logic and emotions in an effortless way. Luckily, anyone can learn these skills. In this seminar, Dr. Larry Richard, the founder of LawyerBrain, will explain the five core EQ skills, and provide participants with vivid examples of how each is used in the practice of law. Participants will also learn techniques for developing their own EQ skills, and for those who want to go further, information will be provided about how participants can complete a scientifically validated measure of EQ and receive private feedback after the seminar.
