A practical skill mock administrative hearing

CLE credit is pending in VA and PA.

Three State public utility commissioners, from different regions of the country, will preside over a mock administrative hearing. The case to be argued will concern a utility's request for special accounting treatment for a utility's large investment in a new, cleaner coal plant that can meet the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) pending carbon emission regulations. The mock case will be tried by seasoned administrative litigators presenting expert witnesses who routinely testify on utility accounting issues. All presenters will demonstrate both the dos and don'ts of appearing at your first, or next, administrative hearing. Great CLE for both novice and seasoned attorneys. The program will begin with a short instructional session on how to prepare your witness for cross and the goal of cross, and objections. It will end with a panel of practitioners providing feedback on techniques demonstrated during the mock administrative hearing, held between the two instructive sessions. A reception will follow. This program is sponsored by the Energy Bar Association (EBA) State Commission Practice & Regulation Committee and Young Lawyers Committee, in cosponsorship with the Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Section of the D.C. Bar.
