This session examines the practical considerations and tactical techniques available to the litigator in taking and defending depositions, including preparation and use of depositions at trial. The class also covers sig­nificant cases about depositions and how to apply these cases to your client's advantage in the discovery process. Topics include:

· Plan of discovery.

· Witness preparation

· Deposition scheduling

· Depositions of experts

· Responding to subpoenas

· Protective orders

· Objections and instructions not to answer at depositions

· Submission of the transcript to the witness for review, changes and signing

· Deposition-related sanctions

· Use of depositions at trial

· Deposition checklists.
