Event Description
3.0 Credit Hours

Attend this fast-paced investigative and legal research seminar and learn how to locate crucial information you might otherwise miss on the Internet. Our internationally recognized Internet trainers, Carole Levitt and Mark Rosch, authors of seven ABA Internet research books, will show you how to be a cybersleuth and unearth information that will improve your Internet research skills and help you to function more effectively for your clients.  Each attendee will receive a copy of the latest edition of their book The Cybersleuth's Guide to the Internet (a $64.95 value).

Part 2: Learn to develop effective Internet search strategies and use a variety of on-line sources to find information and data to help your case or transaction.  Find out the key differences between public records, “publicly available” information, and proprietary information.  Discover how to use inexpensive data broker databases to create dossiers to help your client. From finding missing persons to unearthing bankruptcies and other information, this session will improve your ability to efficiently find the information you need for your case.  You will learn how lawyers can and can't use social networking sites for investigative and background research, how to overcome social media discovery and evidentiary issues, and how to authenticate profiles. You also will find out how to quickly and effectively research government documents using new government and non-government sites and apps.
