Event Description
Credit: 6.5 Credit Hours, Including 1.0 Ethics Credit Hour

This highly acclaimed course features the consumers and producers of appellate advocacy in the federal courts. It is designed as an introduction to appellate advocacy, featuring practical advice from the experts. Judges discuss their perspectives and point out pitfalls and common mistakes that attorneys make. Experienced lawyers share some of their tactics for successful brief writing and oral argument. Representatives from the Clerk's Office and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Program provide useful infor­mation on the function of those offices. Legal ethics issues relating to appellate advocacy also are discussed.
