Beginner's Guide to Publishing Law and Publishing Agreements

Led by publishing law expert Gail Ross, this course will introduce you to publishing law, including the publishing industry and how it affects the law. You will learn about the negotiation of a book publishing contract through a clause-by-clause discussion, as well as receive practice tips and insights. The course will introduce you to a variety of publishing industry agreements, including literary agency agreements, collaboration agreements, and magazine agreements, and bring you up to date on some important recent developments and legal issues affecting publishing law. Course materials will include a sample book publishing contract. This course is ideal for attorneys who are interested in representing authors, publishers, and other publishing industry clients, but even practitioners who already represent such clients will benefit from our speaker's insights and analysis.
