This class provides hands-on training on how to prepare, file, and apply for key U.S. nonimmigrant visas. Our seasoned faculty will walk you through the process step by step. The class is designed for someone who knows the basics of immigration law, but still has questions about the process, the law, and the practical details. You will learn about the forms and supporting documents required for each of the following visas: B-1 (Business Visitor), J-1 (Intern/Trainee), H-3 (Trainee/Special Education Exchange Visitor), L-1 (Intracompany Transferee), H-1B (Professional Specialty Worker), E-3 (Australian Professional), and Trade NAFTA visas. Attendees will be divided into small groups to evaluate packages of supporting documentation and to prepare and submit applications and forms. Faculty also will cover these topics and more:  

· What to prepare in support of a B-1 visa application and what your client can expect at the U.S. consulate abroad

· What a "B-1 in lieu of H-1B" visa is and specific examples to show when, where, and how to use this category

· Practical advice on employer training programs for J-1 and H-3 visas

· J visa challenges, including denials under sections 214(b) and 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act

· Practical options for salvaging a visa application after a denial

· How to classify an employee properly as an L-1A (manager or executive) or L-1B (specialized knowledge employee)

· Determining whether your corporate client may qualify for Blanket L certification

· Review of the Public Access Memorandum preparation and whatto do to keep your clients in compliance if they are subject to an audit by the U.S. Department of Labor.
