Event Description
Research shows that words are not nearly as powerful as microbehaviors such as tone, eye contact, and other non-verbal actions. These subtle, often subconscious, signals can demonstrate inclusion or exclusion, and they can have a major effect on employee productivity, retention, and morale. They can also undermine the success of a diversity and inclusion program that focuses simply on "macro" oriented strategies such as recruiting from a variety of universities, providing enticing benefits, and insuring a fair application process. On a “micro” level, a supervisor's non-verbal daily interactions with subordinates have a huge impact on diversity and inclusion efforts and can actually derail progress.

During this session, participants will learn to understand positive and negative microbehaviors and gain an appreciation of how microbehaviors can either undermine or maximize fairness and productivity in the workplace.
