Event Description
Christopher Koegel, of the Federal Trade Commission, will give a presentation on the rights of deceased debtors with respect to unsecured debts, focusing on collection practices that are prohibited by federal law.

Paul Pearlstein will present on common types of secured debts and how death affects collection efforts. He will also discuss the intersection of bankruptcy and decedents' estates.

Jeffrey B. Fisher will present on foreclosure and decedents' estates, including the necessity of the appointment of a personal representative prior to foreclosing, special considerations for reverse mortgages, and federal protection for beneficiaries of real estate through the Garn St. Germain statute.
