This study documents the existence of sexual orientation discrimination against lawyers in the legal workplace of our nation's capital. The Recommendations set forth above describe specific measures by which employers and the D.C. Bar can help eliminate such discrimination. These Recommendations rest on the fundamental principle that all human beings, regardless of sexual orientation, should be treated fairly, equally, and with dignity. This seems to us a self-evident and non-controversial proposition, but one that, given the survey findings, certainly bears repeating.
