Programs in 2011–2012
Our goal is two have programs every 2–3 months. We had a program in December 2011 on mediation that was well attended. Speakers for the mediation program included several retired judges: Nan Shuker, Stanley Klein, and Howard Chasanow. The program was free to all Tort Law Section members.
We are currently planning a program for February/March on wrongful death/survival actions. We are also in the early planning stages for an April program; we have not chosen topic yet. In July 2012, we intend to hold our annual program that introduces local new lawyers and summer associates to D.C. Superior Court.

Community Outreach
The Tort Law Section will continue to support the Advice & Referral Clinic, which we have done for a number of years. Our committee has decided to be more involved in the Youth Law Fair. We plan on soliciting members to serve as judges during the Fair.

Newsletter in 2012
In addition, the steering committee will publish at least two newsletters presenting recent D.C. appellate opinions addressing issues relevant to our section. The first of these newsletters is expected in February 2012.
