Labor and Employment Law Section 2006 Stipends
On May 16, 2006, the Labor and Employment Law Section (LELSC) awarded three stipends to deserving students and an organization.

Pictured above are Rebecca Shaeffer, Brian Lowinger, Deirdre Hamilton, and Melvina Ford.
Ms. Shaeffer, a law student at Georgetown University Law Center, accepted a stipend to assist her this summer while she is working at CASA (Central American Solidarity Association), which provides legal services and community development programs to Latino workers.
Mr. Lowinger chaired the
ad hoc Committee that established the criteria for the stipend selection process and recommended the selectees to the Section Steering Committee. He was assisted by Ms. Hamilton, Paul Greenburg (not pictured) and Micah Salb (not pictured).
In addition to being a member of the Section Steering Committee, Ms. Hamilton is chair of the Section’s Community Outreach Committee.
Ms. Ford, of the D.C. Employment Justice Center, which inter alia offers low-cost bilingual legal services to low-income workers in the metropolitan D.C. area on employment law matters, accepted a stipend for the D.C. Employment Justice Center.
Also receiving a stipend was Bridget Crawford (not pictured), of George Washington University Law School. Ms. Crawford will be working for Migrant Legal Action Program, which provides legal representation and a national voice for migrant and seasonal workers.
The LELSC has awarded stipends to students for the last two years and seeks to continue to assist future students and non-profit public interest organizations in their labor- and employment-related endeavors.
