D.C. Regulations for the 21st Century: Accessing District of Columbia Regulations Through a New, Free Online Search Engine and Web site

Starting October 1, 2009, the District government goes live with a new D.C. administrative regulations Web site, featuring e-publishing, e-rulemaking, and a free online search engine.

What does this mean? If you are a resident, homeowner, or run a business in the District of Columbia, you will be able to access legal information online that will assist you to learn about District laws and regulations as they become effective.

Come hear Andrea Garvey, the administrator of the the D.C. Office of Documents and Administrative Issuances (ODAI), as she walks us through the new system, tells us how ODAI worked with District agencies to review and update their regulations for this first phase, and shares with us what’s coming up in the next phase of the updating process for the regulations, Mayor’s Orders, and other government documents.

Who should attend? Anyone who uses the DCMR and DC Register on a regular basis will want to attend and keep abreast of all of the changes that have been made and those that are coming. This program is another opportunity for members of the D.C. Bar to hear about the changes in publication and access to the DCMR, Mayor's Orders, and the D.C. Code that will affect both government and private legal practitioners. It will also be a chance for you to dialogue with the Administrator about your concerns. You do not need to be a member of the D.C. Affairs Section to attend.
