Although it did address a lawyer’s responsibilities to “nonprofit organizations”, the October 2003 “Speaking of Ethics” column and its listed jurisprudence, discussed issues that go beyond a focus on nonprofit organizations. Prominent among the issues encompassed within the October 2003 column are: the clear cliental primacy of an organization over its constituents in terms of the organization’s attorney obligations; the need for clarity and the possibility of a lawyer-client relationship with an organization’s constituents; the position of a lawyer conducting an internal investigation; obligations to former clients; assessing substantial prior participation in a related matter; and the mobility of lawyers and their rights and obligations.
