The Association of American Law Schools Section on Clinical Legal Education has chosen Georgetown University Law Center Professor Philip Schrag as the 2013 recipient of the William Pincus Award for his commitment to clinical legal education… Steven A. Robins, a land use attorney at Lerch, Early & Brewer, Chartered, has been named the recipient of The Daily Record’s 2012 Leadership in Law Award, which recognizes the outstanding work done by members of Maryland’s legal community… Joan V. Churchill, a retired immigration judge, has been sworn in as the national president of the National Association of Women Judges… Mark F. Scurti, a member at Pessin Katz Law, P.A., has been appointed by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley to serve on the Maryland Legal Services Corporation’s 10-member board of directors… Professor Girardeau Spann has been appointed to the James and Catherine Denny Endowed Chair at Georgetown University Law Center… Nicholas V. Chen, a managing partner of Pamir Law Group, has been honored by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) with the 2012 Trailblazer Award, the NAPABA’s highest honor, for making a substantial and lasting contribution to the Asian Pacific American legal profession. NAPABA also honored James Derry, associate general counsel and chief intellectual property officer at Arbitron Inc., and Marita Etcubañez, director of programs at the Asian American Justice Center, with its Best Under 40 Award… Professor J. Peter Byrne has been named associate dean for the J.D. Program at Georgetown University Law Center… Daniel J. Metcalfe, executive director of the collaboration on government secrecy at American University’s Washington College of Law, has been elected as a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration… Lewis S. Wiener, a partner at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP, has been elected cochair of the board of directors of the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs… Richard Alexander, a managing partner at Arnold & Porter LLP, has been named to the board of directors at the National Senior Citizens Law Center… Christopher T. Nace of Paulson & Nace, PLLC has been elevated to chair of the New Lawyers Division of the American Association for Justice… Georgetown University Law Center Dean William M. Treanor has been named one of the 25 “most influential people in legal education” by the National Jurist… Paul M. Smith, a partner at Jenner & Block LLP, and David A. Strauss, Gerald Ratner Distinguished Service Professor of Law at the University of Chicago Law School, have been named to the board of directors at the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy.

Paul Hastings LLP has opened an office in Seoul, focusing its practice on cross–border mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures; complex cross–border litigation, including intellectual property and antitrust matters; and international capital markets… DCBA Law & Policy LLP has moved to Georgetown. Its new office is located in the Flour Mill Building at 1000 Potomac Street NW, suite 150–A… The partnership at U.S.–based SNR Denton, United Kingdom–based Salans, and Canada–based Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP has voted to merge the three firms to form the new international firm Dentons… Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. has entered into an agreement to combine with Norton Rose. The transaction will be completed June 1, under the new name Norton Rose Fulbright… The Haynes Immigration Law Firm has changed its name to Haynes Novick Immigration. Ira P. Robbins, the Barnard T. Welsh Scholar and professor of law and justice at American University’s Washington College of Law, has written “‘Bad Juror’ Lists and the Prosecutor’s Duty to Disclose,” which appears as the lead article in the Fall 2012 issue of the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy… Kerry Reichs has written the novel What You Wish For, which was published by HarperCollins… Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A.’s Fernando Pinguelo has written a chapter on electronic discovery for the 2013 edition of New Jersey Federal Civil Procedure, published by the New Jersey Law Journal… Anson H. Asbury, founder of Asbury Law Firm in Atlanta, has written “Schedule UTP: The Early Returns Are In,” which was published in the November 2012 edition of the Journal of Accountancy, as well as “Ten Tax Tips for Every Litigator,” which was published in the Fall 2012 edition of The Verdict… Rangeley Wallace, practitioner–in–residence at American University’s Washington College of Law, has written the novel Things Are Going to Slide, which was published by Bev Editions as an e-book… Eric H.
