has been elected to The American Law Institute, of which members are
selected on the basis of their professional achievement and demonstrated
interest in the improvement of the law… Brooksley E. Born,
a retired partner at Arnold & Porter LLP, recently received
a Profile in Courage Award from the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation
for her leadership in public service… Charles N. Brower
of 20 Essex Street was awarded the 2009 Manley O. Hudson Medal by The
American Society of International Law for his “pre-eminent scholarship
and achievement in international law”... Richard D. Carter
of Richard D. Carter, PLLC in Alexandria, Virginia, was honored
with the Meritorious Service Award by the Patient Advocate Foundation
and National Patient Advocate Foundation for his service to both nonprofit
groups since their creation in 1996… James W. Dyke Jr.,
a partner at McGuire Woods LLP, has been elected as member of the board
of directors of the Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation in Washington,
D.C.… University of Oklahoma College of Law professor Jonathan
B. Forman has been selected by Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Acting
Chief Counsel Clarissa C. Potter as the 2009–2010 IRS Professor
in Residence whose nine-month term begins September 1… Troy
Kelley has been reelected to the Washington State House of Representatives,
representing the 28th Legislative District… Judith E. Leonard,
vice president for legal affairs and general counsel at the University
of Arizona since 1998, has been selected general counsel of the Smithsonian
Institution, effective June 1… Peter J. Romatowski, a partner
at Jones Day, was inducted as Fellow of the American College of Trial
Lawyers during its 2009 Spring Meeting in Fajardo, Puerto Rico.

article “Will the Supreme Court Reinforce or Undermine Basic ERISA

in the Charleston Law Review (vol. 3, p. 289)… Michigan
State University professor Gerald S. Schatz has written “Ethical
