Training Program

The D.C. Bar Pro Bono Program hosts training sessions for attorneys and paralegals who wish to undertake pro bono assignments from the Pro Bono Program or other legal services providers in District. These sessions are taught by experienced legal services provider practitioners and private bar practitioners, and are sponsored by D.C. Bar Sections, law firms and legal services providers. The training sessions address a wide array of legal areas, including Bankruptcy, Political Asylum, Family Law, Landlord–Tenant Law, Veterans' Claims and Parole Advocacy. In 2012, the Training Program sponsored 21 training sessions attended by over 900 new volunteers, legal assistants and D.C. legal services provider practitioners.

*Be sure to read the registration policies as they apply to Pro Bono Program trainings. Training participants are required to perform pro bono legal services for a Pro Bono event sponsoring organization. Please click on the specific event link for additional details.

Missed a session? Attended but want to refer back for continuing training purposes? Please contact us to learn more about our training DVDs and manuals that are available for certain programs.

Please direct any questions about the training sessions or policies to Shannon Redd, staff attorney and training program manager, at 202-737-4700 ext. 3293.
