The D.C. Bar Pro Bono Program ensures justice for all, regardless
of a person’s ability to pay for legal counsel.
With no
D.C. Bar dues supporting the Pro Bono Program, the vast majority of our
budget comes from voluntary contributions. With your
generous support, the Pro Bono Program can continue to provide
service to those who need it, through programs such as:
- The Advice and Referral Clinics which bring legal
assistance directly to the needy with sites in Shaw and Anacostia.
Our Spanish-language clinics, which take place in Columbia Heights, utilize the services of bilingual
attorneys, paralegals, and interpreters.
- The Landlord-Tenant Resource Center, open five
mornings a week, provides unrepresented landlords and tenants with legal information in preparation for their appearances in Landlord Tenant/Court. Litigants can receive help from volunteer attorneys on drafting pro-se pleadings and other relevant issues, as well as retaining pro bono counsel when warranged.
- The Community Economic Development Project which creates
partnerships between volunteer attorneys and community organizations
working to build low-cost housing, revive neighborhoods, foster
small businesses, provide day care for children, create jobs,
and improve citizens’ health.
- Pro Bono Training Programs offering in a wide range
of legal topics for attorneys and paralegals committed to undertaking
pro bono assignments for D.C. legal service providers.
With your help, we are expanding the presence of pro bono attorneys across the city and creating new settings for pro bono attorneys to serve needy clients.
Thank you for your concern, commitment, and generosity. |
