How to Protect and Enforce Trademark Rights

Credit: 3.0 Credit Hours

Description: This introductory-level class provides an overview of the different types of trademarks, their use, and the basis for a claim of ownership. Faculty will discuss pre-litigation matters, including cease-and-desist letters, temporary restraining orders, and settlement issues. This class also explores the basis for a claim of ownership, such as infringement, unfair competition, dilution, and the anti-cybersquatting statute, as well as jurisdiction and evidentiary issues. Faculty will guide you through affirmative defenses and remedies and provide an overview of appellate litigation issues.
