Description: This course will help you complete a successful Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Form 1023 for a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. A panel of experienced practitioners will help you understand the process of establishing a public charity or private foundation under D.C. law and how to apply to the IRS for recognition of the tax exemption. Faculty will explain the incorporation steps and guide you through Form 1023, question by question, highlighting the standards the IRS applies. In addition, the panel will discuss strategies for responding to questions the IRS may ask in its review of your organization's application.
