Description: Caring for an aging and incapacitated adult poses many difficult challenges and issues, and D.C. law governing guardians and conservators of incapacitated adults can be confusing and complicated. This course will help attorneys guide their clients-or themselves-through the process of administering a conservatorship or guardianship effectively for the benefit of the ward and in compliance with legal obligations and court rules. Difficult issues, including accountings, medical decision-making and conflict resolution will be addressed. Experienced practitioners will offer tips to avoid problems and obstacles. This class will benefit both attorneys new to this topic and those who have participated in intervention proceedings.
