- This half-day training session will prepare participants to provide direct pro bono legal services to individual pro se litigants at the D.C. Family Court Self-Help Center. The Family Court Self-Help Center serves pro se litigants with matters in the Domestic Relations and Paternity and Support Branches of the Family Court of the D.C. Superior Court.
Volunteering at the Family Court Self-Help Center is a great way to provide much needed pro bono legal services to our community, while making a predictable time commitment.
Trainees will be asked to commit to volunteering for three morning or afternoon shifts at the Center within approximately six months of the Training session. No particular expertise is required, the training will fully prepare you for your volunteer service and an expert from the Family Court Self-Help Center staff is on-site during every session.
This training is appropriate for attorneys only.
**Please note that malpractice insurance is not provided by D.C. Superior Court or the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Program to attorneys who volunteer at the Family Court Self Help Center.
