- The Energy Bar Association kicks off its Annual Meeting with two half-day seminars (May 1 and 2) on significant federal and state issues. These will address issues of critical importance to today's energy practitioners. Attendees will spend the first morning addressing the post-Dodd-Frank regulatory landscape for energy market participants under CFTC regulations. These sessions will serve to educate energy practitioners whose clients, prior to the passage of Dodd-Frank, had largely been exempt from CFTC regulations. After lunch, the focus will shift to state law matters for energy practitioners. These sessions will focus on trends in state utility regulation and legislation, how states are addressing increased infrastructure and environmental costs, and state regulation of shale gas and hydraulic fracturing.
