What's a Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO)? How do I value an interest in a pension plan? When can an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) be divided? Dealing with retirement issues in a divorce raises many questions for the family law practitioner. Clients and their spouses often have much of their wealth invested in qualified retirement plans and individual retirement accounts; and in our area many parties participate in the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) retirement programs. Our panel of financial experts and family law attorneys will address issues and provide practice tips for issues that commonly arise when identifying, valuing, and dividing retirement assets in a divorce.
